The San Jose Credit Union recently renewed its partnership with San Jose State University Athletics. Spartan Sports Properties, the University’s exclusive athletics multimedia rights holder, made the announcement.

San Jose Credit Union primarily will leverage its partnership benefits to build relationships with student-athletes looking to gain a better understanding of financial management and establishing credit.

One component of the agreement allows the Credit Union to host a “Credit Zone” seminar on campus at no charge to students. One seminar already has been held, with plans to host additional sessions under way.

A San Jose Credit Union College Account Package specifically designed for SJSU students also has been established in which they can take advantage of various discounts and benefits, including transfer availability between parents’ bank accounts.

“We wanted to partner with the Spartans to become the student-athletes’ go-to financial resource, to foster financial awareness and education, and to help students establish a great financial basis as they move forward in their futures,” says Sara Holtz, Marketing Manager, of San Jose Credit Union. “The proximity of our 4th Street branch and the University make us a close and viable resource, and we’re really excited to be on board and be a solid resource for students.”

The student-athletes who attended their workshop in the spring (2012) really benefited from the information. They left the session with a keen understanding of why good credit is a MUST in today’s economy,” says Julie Stansberry, Student Services Coordinator.
