ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Learfield Sports is proud to announce its 2013 University of New Mexico football broadcast team for the Lobo Sports Network.

Robert Portnoy and former Lobo George Carter will handle the game-day broadcast duties. Portnoy has 13 years’ experience in professional broadcasting, including the last seven as the play-by-play announcer of the Albuquerque Isotopes Triple-A baseball team (2006-12).

Carter will begin his first season as color analysts. The Albuquerque High School graduate played for UNM from 2004-07, starting at outside linebacker his junior and senior years. Carter also was a two-time winner of the Lobo Club Male Student-Athlete of the Year award during his collegiate career.

Scott Stiegler returns for his sixth year as host of the Football Tailgate Show and will welcome another former Lobo as his co-host. Roswell High School product DonTrell Moore will join the program in 2013.

Moore, a Lobo from 2002-05, is just one of eight players in the Football Bowl Subdivision ever to rush for 1,000 yards all four years of his college career. He is the all-time leading rusher in both UNM and Mountain West history with 4,973 yards and a four-time All-Mountain West first-team selection. Moore also was the 2005 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year.

Learfield Sports’ local entity, Lobo Sports Properties, is the multimedia rights holder for University of New Mexico Athletics and has complete oversight and management of the Lobo Sports Network.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the quality talent assembled for our 2013 broadcast team and feel certain the fans will like what they hear as well,” said Lobo Sports Properties’ General Manager Joe Weiss. “We felt that bringing in George and DonTrell to the talent mix this year would provide fresh insight and invaluable perspective to Lobo radio.”

Lobo Sports Network has bolstered its statewide presence and now encompasses 19 radio affiliates in New Mexico, eastern Arizona and southern Colorado. In addition to UNM, Learfield Sports manages the multimedia rights for more than 50 collegiate properties across the country and titles the acclaimed Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup with award co-founders NACDA and USA Today.
