JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Learfield Communications, Inc. has appointed Matt Hupfeld to the role of chief financial officer, as announced today by Learfield President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Brown.

Hupfeld boasts 20 years of corporate financial experience serving in both private equity and Fortune 500 environments, 13 of which were dedicated to the broadcast media business. He joins Learfield today from London Broadcasting Company in Dallas-Fort Worth, where he was chief financial officer and vice president of finance. Prior to that, he served more than five years as the chief financial officer and vice president of finance for Newport Television LLC, a television holding company in Kansas City, Mo. Newport was owned by Providence Equity Partners, which has a majority ownership in Learfield, and Hupfeld co-led the establishment of the company’s overall finance function starting there in 2008.

Hupfeld’s prior experience also includes a seven-year term with Clear Channel in San Antonio, Texas beginning in 2001. Hupfeld served three years as director of finance for Clear Channel Communications, followed by four years as Clear Channel Television’s vice president of finance and division CFO. A native Texan, Hupfeld earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He will work both in Learfield’s headquarters in Jefferson City, Mo. as well as Learfield Sports’ primary office in Plano, Texas.
