CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and its athletics multimedia rights holder, Learfield Sports’ Mocs Sports Properties, announced today that a five-year radio agreement has been reached with Clear Channel Radio’s 96.1 FM The Beat.

Mocs’ football games and coach’s show, as well as all men’s and women’s basketball games and coaches’ shows, will air on The Beat starting with the 2014-15 athletic season. In the event of a conflicting broadcast, Clear Channel Radio’s 98.1 The Lake will carry the Chattanooga Athletics’ programming. The partnership is in effect through the 2018-19 season.

“We anticipate this will be a seamless transition as we introduce the Mocs over the airwaves on our new Clear Channel affiliate,” said UTC Athletic Director David Blackburn. “Learfield Sports does a tremendous job identifying the best way to align radio affiliates with our objectives and our fan base. We anticipate a great run with Clear Channel and only expect the utmost quality broadcasts and programming for Mocs’ fans.”

“We’re excited to begin working with the Mocs next year and bringing UTC fans the highest broadcast quality,” said Jared Stehney, regional market manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment. “We have no doubt this will be a great partnership, and we’re proud to have the opportunity. Go Mocs!”

According to Mocs Sports Properties’ General Manager Greg Gilmer, the move to Clear Channel’s The Beat provides many synergies for UTC as Mocs’ programming with be cross-promoted through Clear Channel’s other in-market radio stations such as top-rated US101 FM.

“We want to provide Chattanooga Athletics and its fans and alumni the best possible scenario for the radio network. Many of our Learfield properties have enjoyed long-term partnerships with Clear Channel and we look forward to a win-win for the Mocs as well.”

Mocs Sports Properties is a property of Learfield Sports, which manages the multimedia rights for nearly 100 collegiate properties and titles the prestigious Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup with award co-founders NACDA and USA Today.
