DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire are once again seeking nominations for the annual Anthem Community Angels program, which recognizes the state’s “community heroes.”

“The Anthem Community Angels program recognizes people who have led, created, or otherwise been instrumental in activities that help make our community a better place,” said Justin Barnes, general manager of Wildcat Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports and the multimedia rights holder for UNH Athletics.

“I’d like to thank UNH Hockey for collaborating with us on this program to recognize and applaud the very special volunteers who are making New Hampshire a better place for all of us,” said Lisa M. Guertin, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

During the Wildcats’ home game against the University of Maine on Jan. 24 (7 p.m.), one honoree will be recognized in a special on-ice ceremony. The selected Anthem Community Angel will receive a team-autographed Wildcats jersey. Anthem will also make a $500 donation in the honoree’s name to a local health-related organization chosen by the honoree.

This is the third year Anthem and UNH have teamed up on this special program. Roger Speidel of Durham received the first ever Anthem Community Angel award for his work at his church in Durham and as a long time donor to the UNH football program. Last spring, Myranda Brodsky was named the 2014 Anthem Community Angel for her selfless efforts to raise $10,000 for the American Cancer Society.
