PLANO, Texas – Effective July 1, 2015, SIDEARM Sports will be representing an additional 19 universities with their respective athletic digital platforms. The innovative, leading web solutions company based in Syracuse, N.Y.-based already caters to more than 750 collegiate athletic programs, but these 19 signify the anticipated new growth since joining Learfield Sports’ portfolio nine months ago.

“When we pursued SIDEARM Sports, there was no question it was a best-in-breed technology leader with a world-class content management system,” said Learfield Sports COO Marc Jenkins, who oversees Learfield’s extended business lines portfolio and was integral in the acquisition of SIDEARM Sports last June. “We have been driven and outspoken about our desire to grow our digital realm, and we found excellence in SIDEARM. There’s no secret digital innovation is a tremendous function of business today, and for our collegiate partners, it’s a critical component of how they engage with their fan base and increase the fan’s overall experience with their brand.”

According to SIDEARM Sports’ President and CEO Jeff Rubin, one of the reasons his company was attracted to Learfield was for the potential upside in growth, by gaining entry to other programs in the major conferences. “We believe strongly in our expertise and our points of difference and knew that if we were able to initiate conversations with Learfield partner schools we would be in a position to hopefully win over their business.”

Learfield’s university multimedia rights partners transitioning to SIDEARM Sports’ platform include Army, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, Montana, N.C. State, Northern Iowa, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, SMU, South Dakota, Texas A&M and Tulsa.

“In the past nine months, we’ve been intentional about sharing with our university partners the data visualization, HD streaming, fan database aggregation, social platform integration, design and mobile content services that set SIDEARM apart from its competition,” said Learfield’s Senior Vice President, Chief Content Officer Joe Ferreira. “We have been building our extended business lines portfolio with purpose, to better serve our partners, and SIDEARM is one of those assets we are proud to have in our arsenal.”

Rounding out its extended business lines are owned offerings that include professional concessions and ticketing; licensing and trademark consulting; and in-venue signage and technology. Learfield Sports’ rich history includes four decades of developing trusted, long-term relationships with some of the most revered institutions and associations in the world of college sports. The company currently manages multimedia rights to nearly 100 collegiate properties and is proud to title the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup with award co-founders NACDA and USA Today.
