OMAHA, Neb. – Voodoo Taco is celebrating its new partnership with University of Nebraska Omaha Athletics with a bang as the popular local eatery unveils its highly anticipated taco cannon at the first men’s hockey game of the 2015-16 season at Baxter Arena.

The Mavericks will face Air Force at 7:07 p.m. in the University’s brand-new facility and new home of UNO hockey, basketball and volleyball. Voodoo Taco, a new corporate partner investing in a two-year commitment to support UNO Athletics, will showcase its branded taco cannon at various intervals and between periods at all hockey games throughout the season. Additionally, it will be used at select men’s basketball games.

Taco Cannon (640x427)“The Mavericks had a stellar season last year, and we’re excited to be a part of the fan base, the atmosphere and campus community as it all kicks off Friday night with the first puck dropping at Baxter Arena,” said Voodoo Taco Owner Eric Newton. “The students and overall campus community are important to our business, and we wanted to intentionally back UNO’s athletic programs and their student-athletes. The taco cannon will no doubt be a lot of fun for fans.”

This inaugural partnership between UNO Athletics and Voodoo Taco was brokered by Omaha Sports Properties, a property of collegiate marketer Learfield Sports and the Mavericks’ exclusive multimedia rights holder.

“We felt like this would be a unique way for Voodoo Taco to engage UNO fans and do something a little different during hockey and basketball games,” said Omaha Sports Properties General Manager John Skolaski. “We enjoy working with local, regional and national brands looking to align with UNO Athletics and creating those memorable and valuable opportunities for exposure. We’re certainly looking forward to the home opener on Friday, as is the entire community.”
