HANOVER, N.H. — Adam Giardino and Rob Kennedy will handle play-by-play duties for men’s and women’s Big Green Hockey, respectively, as announced today by Dartmouth College and its athletics multimedia rights holder, Learfield’s Big Green Sports Properties.

All games throughout the season will be broadcast on ESPN 94.5 FM and 1230 AM, Dartmouth’s radio flagship. The men’s season begins when it hosts Michigan on Saturday, Oct.29 at 7:30 p.m., while the puck drops on the women’s season this Friday, Oct. 21, with a home game against Northeastern at 7 p.m. Big Green hockey is played at Thompson Arena and the full schedule for both teams can be found at the official athletics website, DartmouthSports.com.

Dartmouth (640x396)“Dartmouth is thrilled to have two exceptional and passionate broadcasters such as Adam and Rob on the mic at our hockey games this season,” Dartmouth’s Director of Varsity Athletics Communications Rick Bender said. “Fans got a taste of Rob’s enthusiastic descriptions of the action in his first year with the women’s team last season, and Adam is one of the truly talented up-and-coming young broadcasters in the Northeast, as our football fans can attest.”

Giardino has been the play-by-play broadcaster for Dartmouth football the last two seasons, and completed his fourth season this past summer calling the action for the Trenton Thunder (Double-A, New York Yankees) in Trenton, New Jersey. His previous experience includes working on Brown University football broadcasts and on-air coverage for the Bears during select women’s basketball, soccer and hockey games, assisting in sideline reporting for home and away football games for the University of Massachusetts, and serving on the broadcast team at Holy Cross basketball games. As an undergraduate at the University of Connecticut, Giardino covered events for 10 of the Huskies’ varsity athletic teams, including football, and men’s and women’s basketball.

Kennedy, voice of Dartmouth women’s hockey last year, returns to the booth for his second season. He spent six years with the QMHJL’s Lewiston Maineiacs and served as broadcaster for Bowdoin College Polar Bears men’s and women’s teams since 2012. An accomplished play-by-play sports broadcaster, Kennedy has called high school, college and junior hockey games for the past 15 years and has been a four-time recipient of the “Best Sports Play-by-Play Broadcaster” in the state of Maine by the Maine Association of Broadcasters, including 2016.

“Rob and Adam are both terrific at what they do, and we know Big Green fans will love hearing them on game days,” said Ed Chamberlain, Big Green Sports Properties general manager. “We’re all excited for this hockey season to begin, and we’re pleased to have Rob and Adam on the calls. We anticipate a memorable season for both teams and encourage everyone to come out and catch all the home action at Thompson Arena.”
