RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State Athletics and its multimedia rights partner, Wolfpack Sports Properties, announced today plans for the university’s fourth annual Ag Day, which pays tribute to the men and women of North Carolina who are dedicated to the state’s nearly $80 billion agriculture/agribusiness industry.

“Farming and agriculture have been an important part of our state’s economy throughout its history, and NC State football is proud to honor that industry every year,” said NC State head coach Dave Doeren. “Ag Day is a special event for our university and state and we’re excited to see it continue to grow.”

The 2016 festivities will begin on Thursday, Nov. 17, with a student event on campus, and culminate on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Carter-Finley Stadium when NC State plays host to Miami. The Ag Day kickoff for students on Nov. 17, will be held at Wolf Plaza near the Talley Student Center on campus. The event will feature food and music, and there will be a pre-release of the new official Ag Day bandanas. Friday’s events will focus on the NC State College of Agriculture & Life Sciences (CALS), which will host a sponsor networking event and its annual Alumni Awards ceremony.

On Saturday, CALS will host its 25th annual CALS Tailgate event prior to kick-off in PNC Arena, while Fan Zone, outside the arena, will host family-friendly interactive sponsor exhibits, agriculture machinery displays and photo opportunities. During the game, one undergraduate student will be recognized on field as the recipient of the Ag Day Scholarship. In addition to this annual scholarship, an endowment was introduced during the 2014 event that will leave a lasting legacy for this significant partnership. Throughout the course of the game, individuals involved in the North Carolina agriculture industry will be featured in video board segments.

“Our college is excited to be a partner in the fourth annual Ag Day,” said College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dean Richard Linton. “With this event, we celebrate the history, strength and diversity of agriculture in our state as the leading contributor to our North Carolina economy. The collaborative effort with Ag Day sponsors help to ensure that we continue to produce even more students that are ‘difference makers’ in agriculture through the NC State Ag Day Scholarships. We are proud to be a part of this great celebration.”

This year’s presenting sponsors are Farm Credit Associations of North Carolina; Bayer CropScience; KIOTI; North Carolina Soybean Producers Association; Case IH; North Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance; BASF and Lowe’s Foods. Supporting sponsors are CALS and the Southland Dairy Farmers.
